Safety valve and pressure reduction device O&M programs NFPA 13G – Safety of Emergency Shutdown Valves (ESDV) NFPA 13G provides design and installation standards for pipeline safety valves and pressure reduction devices that shut off the flow of natural gas in case of fire or other emergencies. This standard applies to all gas pipelines, both onshore and off. The standard establishes specifications for pipeline safety valves that may be used to shut off pipeline gas flow in case of emergency. NFPA 13G also establishes minimum requirements for the O&M and testing of these valves.
